OVERCOMING TRAUMA

Finding gentle, lasting healing for the wounds we never asked to carry.
Trauma can arrive in a single shattering moment, or it can be the slow accumulation of harm that built quietly over years. However it came, trauma changes the way we see ourselves, other people, and sometimes even YAHUAH. It can leave us anxious in safe places, numb in joyful ones, and exhausted by memories we never asked to keep.
If that is where you are, please hear this first: what happened to you was not your fault, and your pain is not a sign of weak faith. Healing is not about pretending you are fine. It is about being honest before YAHUAH, who already sees the whole of it — and who draws near rather than turning away.
“YAHUAH is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
— Psalm 34:18YAHUAH Is Not Distant From Your Pain
One of the cruelest lies trauma tells is that you are alone in it. Scripture answers that lie directly. YAHUAH does not stand at a distance, waiting for you to clean yourself up before He will come close. He moves toward the broken. He is described not as repelled by our wounds but as the One who tends them.
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”
— Psalm 147:3Even your tears are not wasted or unseen. The psalmist pictures YAHUAH keeping count of every sleepless night and collecting every tear — a tender image of the One who treats your suffering as something precious, not something to be hurried past.
Healing Is a Journey, Not a Switch
Trauma rarely resolves the moment we decide we want it gone. Just as a deep physical wound heals in layers over time, emotional and spiritual wounds need patience, safety, and care. Walking out of the valley does not mean you have lost faith — it means you are still walking, and you are not walking alone.
“Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for You are with me.”
— Psalm 23:4Gentle, Faith-Filled Steps Toward Healing
These are not a formula or a checklist to rush through. They are gentle directions you can return to, at your own pace, as YAHUAH restores you.
Be honest with YAHUAH
You do not have to tidy up your prayers. A third of the Psalms are laments — raw, unfiltered cries to YAHUAH. Tell Him exactly where it hurts. Honesty is not irreverence; it is intimacy.
Let Him be your refuge
When the world has felt unsafe, YAHUAH offers Himself as a shelter. Returning to Scripture, prayer, and quiet stillness can slowly rebuild a sense of safety that trauma tried to steal.
Renew your mind with truth
Trauma writes painful beliefs over our hearts — I am unsafe, I am unlovable, it was my fault. Gently replace those lies with what YAHUAH says about you, one true word at a time (Romans 12:2).
Do not heal in isolation
We were never meant to carry this alone. Trusted friends, a caring church community, and qualified counsellors are gifts YAHUAH uses to bring comfort and perspective.
Release, in YAHUAH’s timing
Forgiveness is not forgetting, excusing, or rushing back into harm. It is the slow, Spirit-led act of handing the weight of what happened to YAHUAH so it stops defining your future.
Hold on to hope
The story does not end at the wound. YAHUAH promises a day when every tear is wiped away — and even now He brings beauty from ashes (Isaiah 61:3).
“Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
— Yeshua, Matthew 11:28Your story is not finished at the wound. In His hands, even the hardest chapters can be redeemed into compassion, strength, and a testimony that one day helps others heal. Take it one gentle day at a time. You are held, you are loved, and the morning is coming.
